Annual IRS Maintenance Shutdown Period for e-Filing Returns

The IRS has announced dates for the individual e-filing shutdown periods. During these periods, the MeF system is taken offline to perform annual system maintenance in preparation for the upcoming filing season.

• The individual shutdown for tax year 2024 begins Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:59 PM (ET). At this time, individual 1040 returns will not be able to be transmitted for the remainder of 2024.

  
  

• Business returns are not impacted by this IMF Production Shutdown schedule. The business shutdown for tax year 2023 has not yet been announced.
